I came home from work today to find an owl perched in my herb box on the back porch. It is a beautiful Screech Owl. Unfortunately, I think it might be injured. It let me get very close without flying off. If it is still around in the morning I will catch it and take it to the Audobon Society which is just up the road. It will be my second trip there - I ran over a squirrel in our driveway earlier this year and had to take it in to be put to sleep.
The second picture is today's bounty from our garden. Priya helped me pick the cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers. The only bad part is the big tomatoes are just now ripening and we are leaving for Texas tomorrow morning!! Our neighbor is going to water the veggies and try to save any ripe ones for us.
That is the great thing about Portland. We live about 1.5 miles from downtown, but we have such a secluded, forest feel. Of course, Ami isn't as enthusiastic about our frequent visits from wildlife! I might be able to update the blog from Texas. If not, I will have lots of pictures when we get back. We are headed to Houston and then to the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
