Attack of the Spoon!!

As you can tell, I have started getting into using the new Mac and iMovie.  Here is a short video clip showing you what fun we are having trying to get Priya to eat food.  She is just not having it.  That mouth is locked shut!

Priya is almost crawling.  The video above gives you a good idea of how she is getting around.  She is doing the military crawl right now, which gets her into plenty of trouble.  Once she gets that butt up, she will be chasing the animals around the house!

More Snow

It snowed about an inch last night while were sleeping.  Ami had to go into work on call.  Priya and I slept in until 10.  After we both ate breakfast, we headed out for a quick hike on our favorite loop through MacLeay trail.  Here is the crew prepping for our hike:

The snow is quickly melting as the skies clear and the sun comes out.   Priya and I are just playing while we wait for Mom to come home.  I will try to post a video of Priya trying to crawl soon.

Sitting High in the morning sun

Random post this morning.  Poor sleep last night due to being on call and Priya's top two teeth are cutting!  Woke up in a foul mood but look up to see my little girl staring up at me.  That made me feel better.  Here she is in her new high chair:

She actually really likes the high chair.  We thought it would help her start eating food better.  Not so much.

The other thing that brightened my day this morning was looking out the bathroom window to see this beautiful sunrise:

The beautiful part about winter at our house is that as all the leaves fall off the trees in the park below our house (which you can see rise up to 200 feet), we get a great view of Mt. Hood.  Not completely unobstructed but wonderful.  Now, you can only see it on clear days, which in Portland in the winter are not too often.

Pappy Ties a World Record!!!

Pappy tied a world record yesterday when he ran a marathon in his 99th different country! He finished a marathon in Israel in 3 hours 44 minutes. Here is a picture before the start of the race. Notice the shirt and the race number:



It probably sounded great at the time - running country #99 in Israel. But, given the recent events, we were a bit nervous about Pappy and Grandmaman going to Israel right now. But, they say the tour company is keeping them safe.

Country #100 and the world record will come with a marathon next month in Tahiti. Now that's more like it. Until then, enjoy an old picture of Pappy and Priya:

Happy New Year!

It took us a while to recover from the holidays and the crazy weather.  Sorry for the lack of blog updates.  I am sure you have all been waiting impatiently.

Haven't been up to much of anything exciting on this end.  Our nanny skipped town and gave us 3 days notice, so we are trying to recover from that.

Merry Christmas from Houston

I made it to Houston on Monday night. My flight was only 2 hours delayed. It has been hot and humid in Houston. We had a great Christmas today. My nephews got a Nintendo Wii. I think I was the most excited about it. I had it set up in 10 minutes. Shrayen and I played it all day long. He whooped me multiple times in bowling. Ami, Priya and I return to Portland tomorrow where my family will pick us up and we repeat Christmas in Portland on Sunday.

Seriously?

It has been snowing all day.  I woke up to find Buddha in this sad state:

Poor guy.  I went outside to let Sona out and ended up helping dig out my neighbor and get her chains on her Nissan Maxima.  She made it out and about but it was all for not as her son's flight into Portland was cancelled.  I am not about to drive anywhere.  So, I headed out on a walk for lunch.  Here are some pics:

These pictures sum up why I am not trying to drive anywhere.  So far my flight is on time - scheduled to leave at midnight.  I am about to head out.  I have to walk Sona to the kennel.  Than I am going to catch the streetcar downtown and grab dinner.  The plan is to watch a movie while keeping an eye on my flight info, then catch the train to the airport (which is using a shuttle bus for the last section!).

Snowed In!

I made it up to the mountain yesterday for my first day of snowboarding for the season.  Great conditions on the mountain.  Not so much on the drive home - blizzard conditions all the way back to Portland.  When I got home I was greated with 6-8 inches of snow.  I walked with a friend to a nearby brewpub, which was packed.  A lot of people were out, it was great.  

Here are some pictures from last night and this morning.  Ami and Priya are in Houston, so only Sona in these pictures.

I think we got a little freezing rain overnight because the top layer of the snow was frozen over.  This really confused Sona:

We had to go for a quick walk along Lower MacLeay Trail.

That is our street above and Buddha below - who lost some of his face icicles and has been given a nice snowcap!

We are supposed to get freezing rain later this afternoon and more snow tomorrow.  Good times!

Poor Buddha, Happy Fish

Since the temperature has not gotten above freezing since Sunday, the snow and ice are still on the ground.  Plus, it is snowing again today and they are expecting 3-4 inches.  Good times.

The Buddha fountain on the back porch is taking the brunt of the storm.  Here it is at the beginning of the storm on Sunday starting to develop some icicle earrings:

Luckily I got the goldfish out of the base of the fountain on Saturday.  Although they are in a smaller temporary home, I am sure they are happier below than they would be above:

Priya is not affected as she plays in front of the windows watching the snow fall.

We are supposed to get snow all day today and more tomorrow.  That will be followed by highs in the 20's Friday and Saturday with more snow/ice on Sunday and Monday.  The only bright spot is I should be able to head up to Mt. Hood this weekend for my first days of snowboarding/skiing.
